Timothy Geithner is a Doucher

I am sure that you wouldn’t expect the new Treasury Secretary to be a cool dude, but you probably also didn’t expect Obama to pick the guy that was in charge of the banking system in New York to help solve the problems that center on THE BANKING SYSTEM IN NEW YORK. So lets forget about the fact that an insider probably isn’t the right guy to sort out the mess in the banking sector. Also for fuck’s charity’s sake, lets forget about the two years that he didn’t pay his payroll taxes even though the IRS caught him not paying his payroll taxes for two other years. Lets look at Geithner the man.

Here’s Timbo fessing up to his deep-ceded douchyness

He is the child of a well-to-do establishment family and has the corresponding academic credentials to prove it (Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins). Before his previous tenure under two other neoliberal assholes – Summers and Rubin – he worked for tricky Dick’s go to guy for world domination strategy at Kissinger and Associates. After earning credentials like these, he took his show global with a brief stint at the Council on Foreign Relations before he subverted sovereignty of nation-states for the IMF. Then he took over the New York Fed in 2003.

Now, any possible Obama-supporting liberals in my readership, someone tell me how this resume screams hope and change? Because to me, it just looks like the history of a man who has been on the wrong end of the Karma stick at a number of turns. So I realize the Senate confirmation would not focus in on any of these positions as inherently negative (their resumes may not look much different), but the fact that they did not even come up blows my mind. The best the republicans could do is muster 5 votes against his confirmation in committee. To me, that shows that even though there may be a new President in town, Congress is not interested in exercising its constitutional responsibility of oversight – specifically I am looking at you, democratic members of the finance committee.

The only point that the republicans bothered bringing up was that he was a tax evader. And even that wasn’t enough to get anybodies blood boiling. If Washington is stupid enough to put the guy in charge of fixing it that was also the guy that was in charge while it was being broken, they deserve what’s coming to them…
